Thompson Fire & Safety Supplies, Inc. has vowed to evolve and grow to meet our expanding customer needs. We are excited to announce Thompson Fire & Safety Supplies, Inc., is now certified to service backflow preventers.
All plumbing systems intend for water to flow in one direction. Backflow is the undesirable reversal of the normal flow of water in a plumbing system. It occurs when water flows backward from a potentially polluted or contaminated source into the clean water supply. This reversal can lead to the contamination of the drinking water with harmful substances, posing serious health risks to consumers. Check valves or one-way gates to prevent water from flowing in the wrong direction.
Backflow prevention systems are required by Indiana Code: (327 IAC 8-10). Your local water provider and IDEM monitor and regulate backflow systems. Indiana requires backflow prevention systems to be tested annually. According to the Indiana Code, backflow prevention systems are considered past due 1 year and 1 day from the date they were last tested.
Here's why backflow prevention is crucial:
In summary, backflow prevention is vital for protecting public health, maintaining water quality, and ensuring the proper functioning of water distribution systems. Thompson Fire & Safety Supplies, Inc., is looking forward to better serving our customers by servicing your backflow system while continuing to meet your fire protection needs. Please give us a call or message us so we schedule a time to meet with you to review your system.
